Should Marugori Be A Dragon Level Threat?

After my gauntlet was invaded by those who think Marugori should have been placed higher in the Disaster Level tier I figured I would make this thread and open the discussion.

İmage

The first thing that should be mentioned is that he didn't achieve becoming a Mysterious Being on his own. He took his brothers steroids "Biceps Brachii King" which turned him into the mutated man we see shortly after his initial appearance. He essentially took the original Monster Cells before Monster Cells were a thing.

İmage

What that leads me to believe is that his strength training, although extremely impressive, was not enough to garner him the ability to transcend his own boundaries. So when he mutated in Beefcake, it wasn't based on skill or ability in any way whatsoever. My point being, Marugori was not on par with someone like Darkshine who did transcend his own limits by doing the same exact thing. So why should his artificial strength be any stronger than Darkshine? Well, his size, obviously.

İmage

Using the strength gained from his massive increase in size, he smashed down a few buildings and went on his way before smacking down an entire city. He didn't smack down any imposing characters in the process. He was just a stupid kid who got used by his sociopathic and psychopathic brother by manipulating his dreams of becoming the worlds strongest man. Is the city smashing feat impressive? Sure. Is it impressive when you're almost the same size as the city you smashed? No. You wouldn't be impressed by a toddler smashing lego buildings, why is this any different? The strength is relative to the size, I doubt he's doing anything actually impressive when you take that into account.

Shortly following his tantrum fueled by delusion and excitement, Saitama shows up. Marugori's brother spouts off at the mouth and tells him to kill the guy on his shoulder and the brilliant Beefcake squashes his brother. He immediately goes into a fit of rage, like a small child, and throws his fists around with no skill whatsoever before being wiped out. I'll give a nod to the speed in which he was throwing punches, but again it's really not relevant considering his size and the manner in which he's fighting. Remember, the steroids didn't give him skill in Martial Arts or any fighting skill in general, it literally just made him a massive man. He literally relied solely on flailing his arms as fast as he could trying to kill Saitama.

A few statements of mine that secured him in his current position at Demon level personally:

Why Marugori is a Demon Level Threat
- Being categorized at Demon Level means you have the capability to do destruction from the range of destroying roads, buildings, etc; to the entire city.

- Being categorized at Dragon Level means you have the capability to destroy multiple cities.

- Beefcake destroyed 1 city and a few buildings along the way, he was never close to destroying multiple cities in one attack. It was physically out of his range considering his direct attack at Saitama left a crater roughly 30% larger than his hand. He fits right in that category of infrastructure damage to city damage, he never leaves that category.

- The Hero Association either never sent anyone to stop him, which is unlikely, or they just didn't think he was skilled enough to warrant an immediate reaction. Saitama was grocery shopping and made his way over after it became enough of a problem.

Let's also take a look at some of his contemporaries and why they are assumed to rank higher based on actual happenings, and not just speculation of what could have been.

Demon Level Threats
- Deep Sea King did a fair amount of infrastructural damage and he's not even remotely close to the same size as Beefcake. It was also mostly unintentional, since the damage was primarily done by his attacks on people and not the environment itself. Imagine if he just decided to go on a mindless rampage and tried destroying a city.

- Deep Sea King had a slew of heroes sent after him to be stopped, most of which were defeated. Even if he never fought Genos, Sonic or Prisoner, the A-Class heroes he defeated are more than Beefcake ever did.

- Awakened Cockroach fought the most currently upgraded Genos, was on par with him, and escaped a trap meant for Sonic who is arguably still above Genos in overall ability. My thoughts on going toe to toe with an S-Class hero quickly moving his way up versus the big tall man swinging his arms around frantically? I think you can figure that out.

Those are just some of the Demon level threats. Hell, I could have included Mosquito Girl, Beast King, Face Ripper, literally anyone who actually fought and did damage to heroes and not civilians and their houses. The meteor garnered more attention from the Hero Association and that thing was only slightly more sentient than Beefcake.

Now let's move on to the Dragon Level threats. I don't know why I feel the need to explain why Marugori was, will, and would never be on this list, but I will anyway.

Dragon Level Threats
- Carnage Kabuto took out Genos in an instant. Usually not a big deal considering Genos track record in the earlier days, but it's more than I can say about Marugori.

- Kabuto also has extremely keen instincts which, to this day hasn't been surmised by many enemies, showed him Saitama's strength.

- Dr. Genus is pretty much the better version of Fukegao, why and how would Fukegao ever create a being or mutation better than THE genius scientist. It's extremely illogical.

- Melzalgald took on some of the toughest S-Class heroes and A-Class heroes at the same time. Does Marugori really belong in that same category?

- Mysterious Beings like Groribas and Geryuganshoop are their purely on hype because they were Boros best and most capable underlings. They are placed in Dragon because Boros has been moved to somewhere between Dragon and God some time ago.

- Pluton is the closest case to help Marugori, but I don't even remember him being in the manga? I could be wrong, but I feel like that dude was non canon.

İmage

Before I end this massive thread, I'll post a few things that could go toward Marugori for being a dragon level threat or a top tier demon level threat:

Marugori Feats
- Destroyed a large portion of a city with one swing

- Made a crater larger than his fist when attacking Saitama

- Supersonic speeds relative to his size

- Did enough to get Saitama to make it his obligation to stop him

- He wasn't blown to smithereens like other Demon and Dragon level threats when Saitama hit him, insinuating he may have been extraordinarily durable even by OPM standards

- Maybe the heroes didn't show up because he was a lot more dangerous than they could handle at that moment and needed to plan it out.

- His strength being multiplied by as much as it was, combined with his peak physical condition before he changed insinuates that he could very well one shot most characters.

- He still remains the largest character we have seen so far, and that includes Orochi until we get an actual scale of him in the world. That alone makes him extremely dangerous.

- He could legitimately fall on most opponents and crush them.

- Considering how much of a physical specimen he was as a human, it's not far fetched that he had some form of Martial Arts training to increase his physical prowess. His sloppy punches against Saitama could have just been emotion taking over.

TLDR
- Marugori is not skilled enough to warrant a Dragon Level threat, he's just big.

- Marugori is not smart enough to warrant a Dragon Level threat, he's just big.

- Marugori is not on the same level as most of his Demon Level contemporaries, let alone Dragon Level ones.

- Marugori never destroyed multiple cities, which is the entry fee into Dragon Level.

Well, that's my opinion on the matter. Now let's begin the debate ;)
