Characters Whose Hate You Don't Get

Some characters receive a lot of hate from fans. Sometimes rightfully so, and sometimes not. Too often, fans cannot distinguish between a character's personality & actions (e.g. arrogance & ruthlessness - which make a character dislikeable), and the role of the character itself (e.g. being a quality villain), his design, his importance & influence for a good and eventfull plot.

You can dislike a character without hating him. You can dislike a character's personality & actions without disliking the actual character. In short: You can dislike a character while still appreciating the design & importance of the character (not to mention his powers).

Typical examples would be Blackbeard, Akainu, Doflamingo, King Bradley, Orochimaru, Danzo, ... who, despite their dislikeable personalities & actions, are likeable characters in the context of character depth/quality, role & importance.

Then there are characters who are hated for no reason other than social pressure. Mostly female characters. Yes there are lots of female characters who annoy fans for a reason, but with some, their hate has reached Just Bieber-esque dimensions, where society hates this character by default, no matter the character development he/she receives. Best example here is Sakura, who's still hated for her "uselessness" even though she, by the end of the series, is one of the most useful female characters in all of Anime. She's annoying, but she's not useless.
