Dealing (defeating, killing) with Zeref is one the main things that needs to be done in the story. We have seen many people claiming that they will be the one to take Zeref down. Natsu, Gray, Jellal.
And from the last chapter we also know that Fairy Tail's one and only knowitall aka Mavis has found a way of defeating him.

Ranting aside, I think the way of defeating Zeref could be the curse itself.
Let's just take a close look at a term - One Magic

So let's go and agree that One Magic is Love and that Love is important thing in Fairy Tail. (duh)
Now let's jump back at Ankhseram Curse.
We know that the Ankhseram Curse is a curse of contradiction.
1. When we were first introduced to AC we learned that the more you love the more you kill, the more you care the more things die around you.
2. But we have found it to be even worse then that. Among other things the curse makes you immortal. Bearing this curse (immortality+killing) is a terrible punishment. One that Zeref is constantly struggling with and battling.
What Zeref has struggled with this entire time is hatred for himself. He hate that he causes so much death and destruction. He hates himself so much in fact that he has made countless demons to kill him, eventually manifesting a demon in his brother, which is a huge deal as trying to save his brother is what got him this curse in the first place.
So Zeref hating himself feels kinda right. Nothing to complain about that. But this is the curse of contradiction. Maybe the reason that the curse makes them immortal is because they hate themselves and want to die.
1. We have already seen love killing immortals, with Zeref's simple love for Mavis almost/kinda killing her.
2. We know for the fact that Zeref hates himself.
Question: What would have happened if Zeref for once in his life tries to love himself?
This would actually be a hard thing for him to do. Loving Natsu, Mavis. That's easy. But he would most probably find it hard to came and love himself after everything that hashappened. So maybe the people close to him could persuade him and show him that it isn't he who killed everyone. It's the curse. Curse that he got for his undying love towards his brother.
This would obviously be one of the biggest asspulls in the history of comics because it would totally ruin amazing god hyped fight between E.N.D and Zeref. But being that Fairy Tail is always about love, do you find this this scenario possible in any way?
